11.05.11 - Change air filter

I am sure most of you don't care about all these little things that I am doing for the first time... but I don't have kids to brag about or Mike here to go site seeing.  So this is what I post about... my "first times."  This was the first time that I have ever changed air filters all by myself.

11.04,11 - Ice Skating

It is starting to get cold here in Oklahoma!  Friday I had to be at school by 630am, it was 28 degrees when I left my house.  I took this picture around 830am that same morning down the street from my house.  This is not snow just frost on the grass from the night of freezing weather.

Zoraya, I girl in my institute class invited me to go ice skating with her.  We went Friday from 1pm to 3pm.  We then went to this lovely park nearby that when people come to visit I must take you to.  Here are a few pictures of ice skating.  Sorry a few pictures are blurry but I had lots of fun!

In December there is supposed to be an outside ice skating rink... I look forward to going to that at least once this season.

10.28.11 - Frontier City

This past Friday I went out with a few of the other students in the AuD program.  We went to Frontier City, which turns into "Fright Fest" during the Halloween season.  Frontier City is a small amusement park in OKC.  They even have a haunted house for an extra fee, we decided to do it.  Luckily it was not scary, it was designed to be family friendly, but not worth the extra fee and time standing in line to get in.  Also the night we went it happened to be the coldest night so far... while we were there it got down to 42 degrees, burrr!  By the time we left my face, toes and hands were numb.  However, we all had a great time and it was great to get out and have some fun!

So you have an idea of who these people are.... On the left (the only boy) his name is Matt, he is Julie's fiance (Matt is not in the program), Julie is next to him in the yellow scarf, she is a 3rd year.  The blond hair girl is KeLee and next to her is Misty, they are both 2nd years.  I am next to Shannon, the curly hair girl, we are both 1st years.  Yes there are more students in the program, however we were the ones that went to Frontier City.
This is KeLee and I on the last ride, were the only ones that were willing to go on all the rides!

Busy Saturday - October 15th

October 15th started off with a bang!  Rachel, my roommate, was in a car accident on her way to work at the Myriad Botanical Gardens.  Myriad Garden was having a free day full of concerts and fun activities for the whole family all day.  Rachel called me to see if I could pick her up and take her downtown.  I quickly finished getting ready and this is what I found....

She had been hit by a person who ran a red light. Her car was totaled.  I don't know that you can see it in the pictures but the tire is leaning in and does not move at all when driving.  Now Rachel has to go car shopping again.

After the police gave us the okay to leave I dropped Rachel off downtown at the Myriad Botanical Garden where she was working for the day.  When I went back to pick her up for the day we decided to stay and walk around for a little bit so I parked the car, which took 40 min to find a spot.

Look cactus!

Once we were done walking inside the dome full of these beautiful plants, we went to where the concert was about to start.  This is us sitting on the grass waiting for Pat Green, a country singer.
I should probably mention that Rachel does not like country music at all so we only stayed and listened to 2 songs.  It was lots of fun!

From the behind the stage... Pat Green and band

On our way to the car there was a waterfall and so I took a picture because it was pretty.
That was our busy Saturday!

First Scorpion Kill in OK - Sep 27th

When I got home from institute last night(Sept 27, 2011) around 915pm I saw my first scorpion in OK on the wall of my garage!
I dropped my stuff of inside and told Rachel, my roommate what I saw.  Rachel is terrified of bugs (moths included) so I was unofficially nominated to kill my first scorpion.

The scorpion before the kill....
While I am about to risk my life, Rachel hides in my truck to be a safe distance away from the scorpion.
I had her take pictures of this historic event
Me getting ready to smash the scary scorpion!
(If you look closely you will see a black dot right about the car... that is the scorpion I am about to smash!)
Me killing the scorpion... smashing it on the wall....
It fell of the wall so I stomped on it 5 times to make sure it was dead!
Proof that the scorpion is dead!
My shoe and I win the fight with the scorpion!
And that is the story of killing my first scorpion!  It is strange that I don't have brothers, Dad or Mike around to take care of it for me.  But it is proof that when I need to I can take charge and take of it myself.  However, I look forward to Mike being here to take care of things like this instead!

Michelle Visits Mike in AZ (Sep 15-19, 2011)

My clinic supervisor emailed me and said that clinic was cancelled on Friday... so I took this extra day off to go visit Mike and family in AZ (September 15-19).  Mike was the only one that knew I was coming in to visit that weekend.  Surprise!  We were not very good at taking pictures so we only have a few.  We will need to work on taking pictures.  I was able to visit all mine and Mike's family members that live in town.  It was great to see and spend time with everyone.  Mike thank you!

What a sweet horse!
